White has ], which is shockingly useful given that it only takes up a land slot and is unlikely to ever get blown up. In my view, every EDH Deck needs a way to refill the deck so you don't run out of options if the game goes long.īlue has ], ], and ], and other similar cards. Like consider the fact that people are happy to play cards like ] and put cards back in their opponents' libraries just to keep them from having access to them in the GY. Libraries matter a lot less than you think. So in general just be very wary of things that don't affect the board or hands. You need to just start accepting that if you are going to draw 20 cards in a given game, it doesn't matter which 20 they are. To some people, I feel like they would actually feel like they lost something if that happened. One thing you might want to try doing is at the end of every game, look at the bottom 10 cards of your library and imagine they had actually started the game on top, but your opponent cast a spell that put them on the bottom. But barring certain effects, there's really no difference between your opponent taking cards off the top of your library as from the bottom. Like one thing I've often observed with newer players is they get really affected by having their library milled from, because they look at the cards and feel like they're being taken away. It sucks feeling like your cards are gone forever when you use them, but elixir lets you say "it isn't forever, I could see them again!". I feel like this card, and cards like it, often serve as a "security blanket" to newer players. Other cards that do the same thing exile themselves, or at least, don't shuffle back in too. But they are quite expensive and may require additional setup that would make the elixir preferable. The original Eldrazi Titans like ] sort of do if you only want the GY shuffle part, you just need a way to discard them. There are absolutely use cases for this card, and I can't think of a better version that does exactly the same thing but better. r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast. Wotc Paying the activation cost of Elixir of Immortality’s ability doesn’t cause it to leave the battlefield. You are considered to have shuffled each affected library (even if, as a shortcut, each player physically shuffles their own library). Wotc If you gain control of another player’s Elixir of Immortality and activate it, the Elixir of Immortality will be shuffled into its owner’s library and the cards in your graveyard will be shuffled into your library. Wotc As the ability resolves, you’ll shuffle Elixir of Immortality into its owner’s library directly from the battlefield, if it’s still there. If it’s anywhere else by that time, including in another player’s graveyard, it remains where it is and you shuffle just your graveyard into your library. Wotc If Elixir of Immortality is in your graveyard at the time the ability resolves, you’ll still wind up shuffling it into your library because you shuffle your entire graveyard into your library.
